Details :- Shortly after bombing HX233 was attacked by a night-fighter at 19,000ft and was partially abandoned. The aircraft coming down at Hirschfelde, Germany (approx 18 miles North-East of Berlin) after exploding in the air.
 
 
Those of the crew who died are buried in the Berlin 1939 - 1945 War Cemetery.
 
P/O Ward - PoW number is 3460 in camp Stalag Luft Sagan and Belaria.
 
P/O Hunt - PoW number is 3367 in camp Stalag Luft Sagan and Belaria.
