Details :- HX273 was shot down by a night-fighter flown by Fw. Rudolf Frank of 6/NJG3. With the aircraft difficult to control F/S Edwards managed to hold the aircraft steady enough for the rest of the crew to parachute out. The plane crashed near the village of Beltershausen in Germany.
 
F/S Edwards is buried in the Hannover War Cemetery.
