Malcolm Douglas Watson was born on 15th March 1914 at Summer Hill, New South Wales, Australia.

He was the son of James and Nina Beryl Watson.

Before the war Malcolm was an accountant.

He got married in 1939 to Kathleen 'Brown' at Casino, New South Wales, Australia.

Malcolm and Kathleen had two children - Diana born in November 1940 and Stephanie born in April 1942.

Malcolm enlisted on 11th October 1941 in Sydney.

In December 1942 Malcolm embarked on a 2 month sea journey to the UK.

As well as flying the Handley Page Halifax, Malcolm had also flown Avro Ansons and DH Tiger Moths.

  His families misfortune was not only with Malcolm, his brother Leonard David Watson (service number 402813) died on the 20th March 1943 in a training accident in a Vickers Wellington in Cheshire, England aged 24 and also their brother Maxwell Thomas Lockwood Watson (service number 420328) died in a 460 Squadron Avro Lancaster on a mission on the 22nd September 1943 aged 27.  
 

 

Malcolm joined 466 squadron on the 3rd February 1944.

 

  
 

 

Malcolm had died in the crash on the 18th March 1944 at Wembach at the age of 30.

Malcolm was initially buried in Wembach Civil Cemetery, before being re-buried by the allied forces to a dedicated war cemetery in early December 1947.

Malcolm is now buried in Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany in area 7, row H, grave 9.
